I’m starting the second week of spring quarter, and the amount of reading in my future is daunting. While the temperature has improved, a storm is supposed to hit tonight, so there’s not much improvement on the weather front. As for my apartment, we hosted Bachelor Nights where everyone comes over to drink wine and be parasocial with the contestants.
Cheers to reality TV bringing friends closer, and here’s how I spent the rest of the week…
For My Ears
Album
The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We by Mitski
This week, I had the pleasure of seeing her in concert. An hour and a half of interpretative dance later, I’m a changed woman.
Songs
Maneater by Daryl Hall & John Oates
Blame Brett by The Beaches
Roommates by Malcolm Todd
For My Eyes
TV
Bojack Horseman
How many times have I seen this show? The exact number that would be at the end of impressive and right before concerning. But I’ve been rewatching it with my friend and changing her life (giving her permanent emotional damage and reflection).
Film
Ex Machina
With the rise of AI, it’s fun to watch how it plays out in film.

Why Men Love “Literally Me” Characters by Du Cinema
Every time a man quotes Fight Club or American Psycho a woman rolls her eyes.
the cult of celebrity relationships by Mina Le
Love them or hate them, celebrity relationships are a social staple. But why is that?
Youtuber
I’m officially on Day 6 of Adriene’s 30-Day Yoga Journey. I wanted to get back into working out and yoga is my favorite way to exercise while refusing to leave my apartment. My abs have been sore all week, so I think I’m doing it right.

Recipes
Sarah’s Avocado Toast
This is my morning avocado toast recipe. The secret is fruit.
Recipe: Sourdough bread (toasted), then in order of addition: vegan butter, avocado, micro greens, Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel, and quartered golden berries.
Chili Garlic Noodles by ItsLizMiu
I had this twice this week and it only takes about 25 minutes to make.
Recipe notes: I used Trader Joe's Crunchy Chili Onion oil instead of Korean chili, didn’t add msg (because I have no clue where to buy it), and didn’t add powdered veggie broth.
Thumbprint Cookies by Sugar Spun Run
When googling thumbprint cookies, this is the first recipe that comes up. And it should be since I always get rave reviews from everyone who tries them.
Recipe notes: vegan butter works great, applesauce or ripe banana works well for the egg yolk substitute, and you do not need a full ½ cup of sugar for rolling the dough.

Book
Anime Through the Looking Glass: Treasures of Japanese Animation by Nathalie Bittinger
I’m currently in “The Color of Dreams” and so far this book has been fantastic. It does contain some spoilers, but since it covers such a wide spread of work, it’s difficult to remember all of them.
Till next week,
xoxo sarah
